As with any vacation, sometimes you need to do some laundry. Or maybe you overpack so that you don’t have to worry about cleaning your clothes. For us, it’s always depended on the season and where we are staying. Disney offers a couple different options when it comes to laundering your clothes.
If we are planning a trip when we know it’s going to be really hot, we pack light. It also depends on where we stay. If it’s really hot out and we pack light and rent DVC points for a suite, we plan on using their machines in the room. That’s right! If you stay at a Deluxe Villa resort, the rooms each have their own washer and dryer. It’s such a nice amenity, that we always take advantage of it. Even if we plan a trip when it’s cooler in Florida, it’s nice to not have to pack as many clothes. It’s also very convenient if you’re traveling with small children who might have accidents or get really messy every day. We typically just buy a few single load Tide packs before we leave and toss in some dryer sheets from home and pack them in our luggage. If we run out, we can always pick up a small bottle at the local store, but we try to avoid that if possible due to the inflated prices.
If you stay at any other Disney resort, they all offer a laundry room, for a fee. Each wash load will run you $2, the soap around $1, and the dryer anywhere from $1-$2 depending on how long you need to dry clothes. So for around $5-$6 per load, you can wash your clothes. The laundry rooms are open to everyone at the resort though, so you either need to plan time during your day to watch your laundry, or you can risk leaving it sit in the machine and hope no one takes anything. For us, if we stay at these resorts, we tend to just pack enough clothes so we don’t have to wash anything. We’re usually too busy at the parks and then too tired in the evening to go back and forth to the laundry room.
Disney also offers a laundry valet service, but it’s pretty pricey. I think it’s around $6 per shirt, $7 per shorts or pants, and $2 per pair of socks or underwear. We’ve never used this service. But that’s nice that it’s offered to guests.
Deciding whether or not you will need to do laundry on your Disney vacation, is an important planning topic. Decide which option is best for your family and pack accordingly. No one wants to run out of clean underwear!
